Part One of the Journey – the First 3 Weeks

The Beginning of the Journey 11/2014

I hope you had a chance to read “My Story”. If not,  click here to read it. …..  and then take this Journey with me. See what starting a business online is like and where it can take you.

Before starting, I researched. It was important that I make a “good” decision on how to proaceed with what I wanted to do online.  After several weeks of reading emails from people I  didn’t know, opening links about tons of businesses, and reading the information contained in the links,  I decided to go with one of them  mainly  because of the reviews I read about the business and its CEO.

The first 3 weeks

The first three weeks  was all about training. I knew nothing about internet marketing, on-line businesses, or being an entrepreneur. It was like learning a new language. My initial investment of $49 bought me a  21-step program and took me into a new world, filled with ideas, words, processes and technologies that I didn’t know even existed. With this first investment also I got a coach who was there to guide me, give me feedback and answer my questions. It was on a 21-step program that initiated me into the world of internet marketing and online businesses.

Here are some things I learned about just during the first week of the 21 step program :

  • five essential elements of an online business
  • what top-tier products meant and their  advantages
  • the concepts of traffic, conversions, and sales
  • the psychology and economics of marketing
  • a new mindset on how to think and unlock my millionaire mind
  • how to become that new person with a different way of thinking
  • was challenged to take full responsibility for my own results in business and in life
Week 2

During the second week of  I received more in-depth information about the umbrella business, including how to get paid, what types of commissions I could potentially get, the people I could meet, the training,  webinars and conferences I could take part in, and the free Mercedes I could possibly acquire. I met, through videos and testimonials, others from all over the world who had bought into this business and succeeded.

The third week focused more on the business. I learned

  • it had sales staff who actually made the sales so that I wouldn’t have to ever pick up the phone to sell a product
  • about the benefits of  outsourcing parts of my business to others(e.g. if I  didn’t have a particular skill, like writing an ad, designing a website or blog, getting people (traffic) to buy the product just to mention a few.
  • about all the conferences Matt put together in exotic places all the world where he brought together online entrepreneurs who shared the stories, tips in their area of expertise, and their successes.
Week 3 and Goal Setting

During the third week I also had to set up goals, not just business goals but more specifically life goals. I had to really search deep into my inner self to find out what was my WHY – my reason for being here on earth, not necessarily the reason for wanting my own business, but why I was here.  The process I went through to do this was eye-opening. I learned so much about myself.  I read a book that my coach recommended entitled “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.  It’s one of the best books I have ever read. It is 254 pages long, but only took me a week to read because it was so good. It didn’t just focus on being a successful entrepreneur, but also an accomplished and enlightened person. I truly recommend that everyone reads this book, whether they are into business or not.

As you can see these three weeks of training was a whirlwind. At times I  was truly overwhelmed because there was so much information being thrown at me. But even though it was overwhelming, I  was stimulated. My mind was working. I wanted to learn more and more. It was definitely worth more than 100 times my first investment. I was very pleased and totally satisfied. I got my money’s worth!!

  1. I really liked your blog; to wit, your journey from job, to retirement to searching the internet to starting your (own) on-line business, as well as, several valuable lessons learned. Also, I think your story conveys a ton of introspection regarding your feelings about life, the world we live in, your relationship with you son, your enthusiasm for becoming an entrepreneur and more. Bottom line…kudos to you for sharing. Thank you.
